Classroom Teacher
Nelson Mandela Elementary’s Classroom Teacher creates a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes an effective rapport with children; motivates children to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education in accordance with each child’s ability; and establishes good relationships with parents and other team members.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

Being committed to the mission of Nelson Mandela Elementary School.

Plan, prepare, and implement daily whole-group, individualized, and small-group lessons, contributing to a climate where scholars actively engage in meaningful learning experiences.

Plan lessons based on instructional/assessment data.

Exudes enthusiasm, optimism, resilience, and positive energy

Works cooperatively and professionally with the full-time paraeducator assigned to your classroom.

Establishes and maintains high standards of scholar behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluates scholars’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress and grade reports.

Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss scholars’ progress and interpret the school program.

Identifies scholar needs and cooperates with other professional team members in assessing and helping scholars solve health, social, emotional, and learning concerns.

Supervises scholars in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.

Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of scholar activities.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Nebraska teaching certificate

A team player with experience working in a collaborative environment.

Ability to listen to and communicate with parents and see parents as a resource.

Possesses conflict resolution skills.

Uses strong organizational skills to meet classroom and individual needs.

Is capable of working with small and large classroom groups.

Experience in an elementary or early childhood school environment.

Open to new strategies, ideas, and methods to meet the needs of all children.

Certified as a Spalding educator Level I within one year
