Jayven Shelton - Paraeducator

Jayven Shelton is proud to be part of the Nelson Mandela Elementary School family. He has always been involved in leadership programs and looked for opportunities to make a difference. He attended Omaha North High School, participated in Black Student Leadership, Omaha 360(President), and the Omaha Kappa League.These experiences taught him the value of leadership, service, teamwork, and giving back to his community, and they continue to influence the way he leads and connects with others. Mr. Shelton is currently attending Metropolitan Community College for a degree in business management. He will then join the para to teacher program. 
 
Mr. Shelton first started working with children at the Boys & Girls Club, where he spent a year building relationships with youth, mentoring them, and helping create a fun, safe, and supportive environment. That experience confirmed his desire to make a positive impact in the lives of young people.
 
As an educator, he believes every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Mr. Shelton strives to create a classroom where scholars feel safe, respected, and excited to learn each day. He believes building strong relationships with scholars and their families is one of the most rewarding parts of his work, and he is committed to helping every child grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
