Classroom Teacher
Nelson Mandela Elementary’s Classroom Teacher creates a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes an effective rapport with children; motivates children to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education in accordance with each child’s ability; and establishes good relationships with parents and other team members.

Duties:

• Being committed to the mission of Nelson Mandela Elementary School.
• Plan, prepare, and implement daily whole-group, individualized, and small-group lessons, contributing to a climate where scholars actively engage in meaningful learning experiences. 
• Plan lessons based on instructional/assessment data.
• Exudes enthusiasm, optimism, resilience, and positive energy
• Works cooperatively and professionally with the full-time paraeducator assigned to your classroom.
• Establishes and maintains high standards of scholar behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  Evaluates scholars’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress and grade reports.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss scholars’ progress and interpret the school program.
• Identifies scholar needs and cooperates with other professional team members in assessing and helping scholars solve health, social, emotional, and learning concerns.
• Supervises scholars in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
• Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of scholar activities.

To provide support to the classroom teacher with scholars through instructional support and assistance as well as supervise scholars in the lunchroom, playground, specials, or other designated locations to ensure a positive, safe environment. 

 

 

Pay:  $15.00/hour paid immediately the DAY OF WORK, must complete a W-9. 

 

To provide support and supervise scholars in the lunchroom, playground, enrichment classes, outdoor experiences, field trips, and other designated locations to ensure a positive, safe environment.

 

• Working with individual scholars one-on-one
• Leading classroom transition activities
• Supervising scholars in outdoor classrooms
• Supervising scholars in enrichment classes
• Directing movement of groups to and from classrooms, playground, and lunchroom in a safe and organized manner.
• Work with scholars individually or in small groups in and out of regular classrooms under the supervision of a full-time Mandela team member.
• Provide instructional assistance and motivate scholars to be active participants.
• Assist enrichment teachers with planned activities.
• Manage scholar behavior in order to create a safe, positive learning environment.
• Supervise scholars on the playground, at recess, at enrichment activities, on field trips, and in the lunchroom.
• Enjoy being outdoors and active.
