Basketball Season Expectations Contract

Purpose

This contract outlines the expectations for scholar-athletes and their parents/guardians during the basketball season. By signing, all parties agree to uphold the values, responsibilities, and commitments necessary for a successful and respectful team environment.

Player Expectations

Attendance and Punctuality

• Attend all practices, games, and team events unless excused by the coach.
• Arrive on time and prepared with proper gear.

Effort and Attitude

• Give 100 percent effort in practices and games.
• Maintain a positive attitude and show respect to coaches, teammates, referees, and opponents.

Academics

• Maintain passing grades and prioritize schoolwork.
• Seek help if academic performance affects eligibility.

Team Conduct

• No bullying, hazing, or disrespectful behavior.
• Support teammates and contribute to a positive team culture.

Communication

• Notify coaches in advance of any absences
• Address concerns respectfully and privately.

Parent/Guardian Expectations

Support and Encouragement

• Encourage your child to give their best effort and be a good teammate.
• Avoid coaching from the sidelines or criticizing players/coaches during games.

Respect

• Treat coaches, referees, other parents, and players with respect.
• Address concerns with coaches privately and constructively.

Commitment

• Ensure your child attends practices and games.
• Volunteer or assist with team needs when possible (e.g., snacks, transportation, fundraising).
